Today Jenelle and I worked on our final project, and I am glad to say that we are almost done! All we have to do is put the four tutorial clips on the internet. Hopefully you will all be blessed with them soon.
It was very interesting creating these videos, for those of you who have been following along, we had to go through many different steps to get to this point. There was getting permission from the St. John Ambulance Head office (for the copyrites) CHECK! There was getting volunteers for the filming, CHECK! Then there was the filming itself, CHECK! and now the editing and putting in the voice for the tutorials, which now has is a CHECK!
We decided to go with four tutorials, Emergency Scene Management, Choking, CPR, and Severe Bleeds.
We worked on a Mac, and the clipping was quite easy as well as putting the voice through. I hope you all enjoy what is yet to come.

Procrastination
Ok,
For any of you out there that write a lot of essays please help me out. I just can't seem to get motivated to write this 5000 word essay on Pythagorean's Theorem. I have done absolutely everything else possibly imaginable. Any suggestions???
Oh ya, I also am going to add some math youtube links for you guys to watch. Just in case you are interested in what I do to procrastinate. HAHA I am such a nerd!!

Major Project Update
The filming is done!
Filming went great this morning. We had 4 volunteers and we walked through 5 different sets. Emergency Scene Management, Choking, CPR, Severe Bleeding, and Slings.
I did not really have much guidelines for the volunteers to follow, since all of them are trained First Responders, however the filming went well anyways. 5 different sets, a couple times through each and done in just over an hour. Pretty good!
Jenelle and I will work on the clips and putting in instructions later this week.

ECMP 355
In class today we were presented with the following questions prompted by Jackie and Dani's comments on their blogs.
I feel as though I should comment on this topic because I do feel strongly about how this class is moving forward.
First off, my situation. I am in my fourth year and taking six classes, I have experience taking a class through Athabasca.
1.Does the fact that one student sees the nature of online learning less social than the other simply a personality issue or is there something about the experience?
- I feel that everyone takes something different from each experience. I may not grasp a lot of content from this class because it is a lot to work with, but look! I can make a blog! It is up to everyone what they take out of the online learning what they can. This is the same with an online class and one that is face to face.
2. How do we get support? How do you get help in other course?
- I find that we get great support in this class. Dean, I am sorry for emailing you ALL the time! haha. I do find it difficult sometimes because I do not know how to accurately describe my issues without showing what is wrong. This is quite difficult for me because I am new to all this technology stuff.
There were two other questions, but I liked these questions.
As someone who is new to technology, I found this course had TOO much to do. I realise that that there is so much content that we need to cover in the semester, however I had a lot of issues working with it. I think everything went by real fast, and I do not completely comprehend all the topics. I find this a negative about the class.

Podcasts
ASHA
Podcast 11: Justin Roberts promotes hearing health in children 11:29 29/08/2008 Interviews with people making news in the professions of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
Justin Robers promotes the safety of personal audio devices.
I think that this is very important, by showing that there are "cool" people that are concerned about those with hearing and speech communication problems. This has become a topic of interest to me through my EPSY class on communication disorders; a very interesting topic, very broad.
Podcast 13: The Value of Early Intervention for Late Talking Children 12:42 14/10/2008 Speech-language pathologist Rhea Paul and child psychologist Leslie Rescorla discuss recent research on the persistence of language weaknesses at age 17 years in late talking children. Principles of early intervention from ASHA’s recent policy documents are highlighted.
This is my educational podcast. Leslie talks about how students who are slow to talk, sometime will not need help with a language disorder, just maybe different language skills than those who did not have issues with language development at an early age. Very interesting podcast from ASHA.

Challenge!!!
Hey Everyone!!
Ok, so I came up with a brilliant idea for my mentoring and I challenged them with a math question. They just finished covering Pythagorean Theorem, and I came across this question in one of my math classes so I figured I would see if they could get it. I also figured, hey why not challenge you guys!!! Let's see who gets this first the high school students or the university ones!!! Good Luck!!!
The question is: The perimeter of an isosceles triangle {2 sides are equal and the two angles at the base are equal} ABC with AB=BC is 128 inches. The altitude {height of the triangle which is perpendicular (90 degree angle) to the base ( and in the case of an isosceles triangle, hits at the midpoint of the base)} BD is 48 inches. What is the area of the triangle??

Tech Task #12
The video I picked for this Tech Task was Garth Brooks "Standing Outside the Fire". Now I realise that this specific video does not have the best picture, however I was having difficulties finding another on youtube that was better.
This video uses many different clips and camera angles put together to tell a story. It is one of those pictures you must see for yourself to believe the power that it can tell. I get tears in my eyes every time I watch it.

My Google Map
I am hoping that this is what was wanted.
My google map is focused in Saskatoon SK. The points of interest that I have gathered are grocery stores and schools, as well as asian food places because they are my favourite haha. So you can tell what is important to me right now. I would like to get a job in Saskatoon teaching someday, so these are the types of things I would be interested in finding.
ok, I am not sure why the link does not work properly. The link brings you to the map I have, but does not include what I had put as my markers and such. Is that what it is supposed to do? I am quite confused.

Portfolio
Ok, So I am in the midst of creating a portfolio for my job applications and I only have one part left. The Philosophy of Education part. Now I know that the improper response is.. "you live, you learn, you die" , but this is hard!
There are so many different ways to think about education and different angles to take when looking at education. So as you can see I am confused as to what I should write. I have been spending so much time on this it is not even funny.
No worries though Dean, I will get the Tech Tasks done as soon as I can. Sorry, they have kind of taken a bit of a back burner to my interviews and job searching. This weekend I promise!

Major Project Update

I have just talked to my contact from St John Amulance, and I am getting quite excited about this project. We are planning on getting in a couple volunteers from the program to shoot the videos with. YAY!
The only thing is that I need a video camera. Can anyone tell me how to get one from the AV place at the university? and where exactly is this wonderful world of video cameras?
HAHA, I am hoping to do the filming either this weekend or next. That way I can have everything done by the due date.
I also signed up for a youtube account, I am going to be putting the tutorial videos on there. It was easier than I thought it would be which is great because I am completely curfluffled right now about everything in my life. Things need to go in slow mo for me! haha
The sections that I have decided to do so far are Emergency Scene Management {ESM}, Choking, Adult Cardiopulmonary Emergencies {CPR}, and Severe Bleeding. I figure that I will do five of them and leave the fifth one open to the volunteers ideas.
This should be great fun! Wish me luck!
If you would like to know a little bit more about St. John Ambulance {like where it came from and what it stands for} please take a look at this link.
My lovely computer...
You know how when your tv goes into that "blizzard" state??? Well at this very moment my computer is doing that for me! Only in very pretty colours! What a wonderful gift! However, I talked to Staples today and my new one should be ready tomorrow. So I will pick that one up, hope it doesnt crash in three days! and maybe catch up on all of my computer assignments for this class. I am thinking about really trashing this computer if anyone wants to join me. I was going to give it to my mom because at the time it wasn't this bad and I figured she really doesn't use computers as much as I do. But now I think NOT! Sorry mom! but this thing has got to go!
