I hope this is what Dean wants. Welcome everyone to a pic of my Google Reader!!!! On this document I have {if you look to the bottom left} my subscriptions to all of my classmates, the 455 students, as well as other blogs. Also on the page, is some of the updates from those blogs. YAY!! As for widgets {part of the assignment} I couldn't really find any, but I did add Google Reader to my igoogle account. Which is great because I can access it without signing into google reader { I have also made my igoogle my homepage}.
I find this Google Reader VERY useful! Not only does it keep you networked with your friends but can be used productively in the classroom as well. Let's start with inclusive education; the gifted learner. Having specific sites subscribed to on a google reader account would allow that student to keep in contact with those who are not in the school to further their interest and learning. How about the average student? With subscribing to different blogs your students can create their own network of aquaintences. The things that your students could learn from others around the world. Plus it is practical. Why read the stories in the news, or other resources, when they can be reading on topics that are of interest to them?
There are many different applications of Google Reader and I would love to learn more.

Education Career Expo

Hello Everyone,

Just thought I would tell you all about my busy weekend and then concluding it by talking about today.

Today, was the Education Career Expo. For those of you who do not know what the Education Career Expo is, a chance for the students { and other certified teachers } to have a kind of "meet and greet" with a wide variety of school divisions and to drop of resumes and such. Very intimidating!

So, I spent the majority of my weekend getting ready for this. I went back to my home town and got some interview experience with my high school principal, {Barb, if you are reading this... I OWE YOU BIG!!!} as well, my mom helped me with my resume and working through other sections of my applications. WOW what a load! { THANK YOU MOM!!}

However, all of the hard work panned out. I do believe that today at the Edcation Career Expo went well. I got two interviews out of it, as well as I have learned an imense amount about each of the school divisions that I was interested in.

I will keep you posted.

Google For Educators- my synapsis

Hello Everyone,

One of our tasks from class today was to go through Google For Educators, reviewing how I have used it and the potential I see in using it in the class.

Unfortunatly, I have not used this site before in the classroom. I did not even know that it existed.

After looking at the site, however, I have found that it posesses many different applications that can be used in the classroom.

One of my favourite parts of this site, that I am going to talk about in this blog, is the multitudes of links to help incorporate the media and what is going on in the world today into the classroom. You can find these links amoung others under the "projects and news archives".

There are also sites for classroom materials {such as posters}. I find this useful.

Also, the fact that the contents of the page has been monitored so that the students will be responsible on the sites.

Survey

Hey Everyone,

This is my survey for Jan 21st 09 class!

ECMP 355 Major Project Begun

To all of those who are reading my blog, I have BIG news.

For those of you who do not know, I teach First Aid/ CPR/ AED through St. John Ambulance. Now, the big news!

For ECMP 355 we have a major project, one of which can be video tutorials. I decided to do mine on First Aid/ CPR. The only problem with this would be the copy rites etc. from St. John Ambulance themselves. I emailed them my project proposition, and..... THEY LOVED IT! I still need to tell them more, but I got to approval to propose it as my class project! This is SO exciting! I believe that they are even interested in using this site {providing it is any good} for their programs! THIS IS AWESOME!!!!

My day in Space

... That is in the unknown computer world....

Today I have started my blog.

The assignment that is due tomorrow *cough cough {at least it is done on time} stated that I had to create different gadgets and fill out my blog. My first issue, what is a "gadget"? and where do I find it?? Thankfully, my friend Josh helped me out on this one otherwise I would have been lost. So I managed to click on buttons and somehow run into this thing called "gadget".

I do believe that I may use "gadget", now that I know where it is. There are some interesting different "gadgets" that caught my eye. However, for now I only put in the About Me gadget and one that helps people subscribe to my blog {if that is what people do to blogs}.

The second assignment {which was actually the first I just did it second because it seemed harder} was to subscribe to a multitude of different blogs. These blogs are created by the rest of my ECMP 355 class {HOLLA!!}, as well as the ECMP 455 class and a selection of other blogs of interest. So, where is this button to subscribe? I found it. But how is it that I use this button. I ended up figuring out that all I have to do is put the URL's from the blogs I want to subscribe to in it! HA! Didn't I feel silly after that!

I have come to the conclusion, after today, that this may not be as hard as I think. As long as I have people here to help me along with the steps {finding the buttons}. Hopefully I become a little more comfortable with this, as I feel that a blog would be quite useful in the classroom.

After all this, a good day! We will see about tomorrow.
